My name is Carl Sax and my goal as a GUN DOG trainer is to bring out the best in all the dogs I train. Each individual dog brings their own personal characteristics and hunting ability to a trainer, and in my opinion each dog must be trained in accordance to their ability and characteristics. THERE IS NO ONE WAY TO TRAIN EVERY DOG. Most of my clientele, have what we call, house dog 1st, hunting dog 2nd. All good house and hunting dogs must have good obedience skills. My dogs are my children and I believe that other dog owners assume the same.

Not only am I responsible for the training of the dog but also teaching the owner about their dogs characteristics and how to control their dogs in hunting and home environments.

Part of the reason we try and get our clients to get involved with NBDCA, NHDA, PHU, NSTRA and AKC HUNT TESTS is to continue to work their dogs on birds in the off season. Also any time you can hunt different terrain, climates and cover with your dog, you are benefiting and helping your dogs ability to find and produce game. Every situation will help round out your hunting companions training.

I have had tremendous success with problem dogs such as Gun and Bird shyness, by using a lot of TLC and trying to get the dogs instinct to over ride their fears. This is a long process and can never be guaranteed but it is worth a shot if the owner is willing to try again. I have turned around some dogs that other trainers said would not hunt. Also force breaking is available for qualified dogs.

Please take a look at the different training programs that we have to offer. If you have any questions on the different training programs or would like to make an appointment for a one on one interview please contact me, I would love to hear from you. The indoor/outdoor kennel is heated and has heated floors for those cold and miserable days. Need references, not a problem, I will give a list with names and numbers upon request.

A dog is not a tool like a shotgun.
Just because the hunting season is over, don't put your dog away like you do the gun.
